While eating dinner tonight some young men in crisp white shirts came to my door. Despite their young age, they name tags proudly proclaimed that they are elders. That's right, the Mormons chose me of all people to come and visit. I shooed them away due to time constraints, but they will surly return. I just haven't decided what my response will be when they return.
I'm tempted tell them I'm not interested and ask them not to return. Then I think about the fact that for every minute they are talking to me, they aren't talking to someone else. It's almost a civic duty to entertain them for a bit. It's been a while since I've studied the LDS in non rap form, so I was wondering if any of you had any recent experience with them. I don't want to be arrogant and try to shove their errors in their face, rather I'd just like to bring up some of the honest concerns I have with them. The main thing I want to discuss is the deity of Jesus, but are there some other topics that might cause them to rethink their positions? I'll update as the situation progresses.

It's been awhile since I've listened to some good Mormon rap, it was an uplifting experience. In talking with missionaries it helps to know the script that they follow and get them away from their stock answers.

i've found that they prefer not to talk about john 3:16 in detail, particularly in the greek. i've had them turn around walk away after suggesting that we have that kind of talk. apparently there is something in their beliefs that don't quite jive with john 3:16.

I was once on a missions trip to Sydney, Australia. My partner and I had Saturday off so we went into the city to see the sights. As it was getting late, we were separated and looking to meet up to head back to the train station.
Before I could find my partner I stumbled upon a Mormon missionary. We proceeded to have an interesting discussion. I was off my game, it being Saturday and all, while he was prepared for the conversation. As we finished I turned and found his partner talking to my partner. How's that for a coincidence?
In any case, the experience pushed me toward researching the LDS faith and how it differs from orthodox Christianity. Hopefully I will be ready next time.
Make sure you know the Bible, because they practice arguing.

way to get the mormon rap stuck in my head!
that's always my dilemma when any cultist comes to my door to... "at least I'll deter them for a while... but I'm really bad at faking interest in something so wrong."
