jackie has left the building!

i was born jacquelyn la dawn eades.
starting grade school i went by jackie. obviously i had no say in that, i was 6 years old. then when i went into fourth grade, we moved to idaho and i wanted to go by jaclyn. then in fifith grade i went back to jackie.... dont remember why. and then in high school i remember wanting to change it back to jacquelyn but thought it was too different and i wanted to fit in. (which is absurd now to think that i thought that!!! why wouldnt i have fit in just because my name wasnt heather or jennifer? silly!) then right after high school we moved to vancouver and i started going by jacquelyn again! so anyone who knew me growing up calls me jackie and anyone who has met me since high school knows me as jacquelyn. well except for some people who decide when they meet me that i must really want to be called jackie, so they call me that automatically! if i introduce myself to someone as jacquelyn, it seems a bit silly to assume i meant to say jackie and just call me that. dont you think? and if anyone has to call me that (family) i prefer it jacque... that would make a whole lot more sense than jackie... there is no ck in the name jacquelyn, now is there? (=
as for the name gwen (some of you are still in the dark about this one) justin started calling me that when were friends, before we were dating. since i liked the name so much and we were convinced it could have come from the name jacgwen (= anyways, so all his friends know me as such... but it is a lot of work to keep up with which name to refer to myself as around certain people. it used to come naturally but not so anymore. now it depends on who i see more. (of course i will never be confused about jackie!) most my close friends call me jacquelyn, but when i go to church, they all know me as gwen. so i cant all of sudden introduce myself as jacquelyn at church, people will think i am an imposter and throw me out in the street! ok that is silly, but i just want you all to understand how much work it is to have four names! even though it is entirely my own fault!
oh and most people from california that i know call me jaq! which i think is cute(=

(= i cringe when i hear someone call me jackie, i amost dont respond! maybe i should stop responding to that, so that people ( mostly family) will be forced to conform(=

yea, i only have 2 names but i know how confusing it can get. I feel like i'm lying when someone "official" asks for my name and i have to say "maria"

and i thought gwen was your middle name... didn't know it was just made-up. it would be weird to call you anything else.

And you want to guess the various ways to pronounce "Bodeutsch"? There are some who use the "BoDutch" pronouncation. Megan has been working on family history and found a long line going into Ireland (red hair).

I am so sorry Jacquelyn, it will be SO hard for me to callyou that! I have always known you as Jackie! Its kinda like "liz" for me...people just call me that. I don't mind, but if you are not my friend, it's Elizabeth to you! (or princess! he he)

I've always had a problem with Beth. From an early age i hated it but every male teacher i ever had has called me beth. People ask what i prefer and i say bethany and they still call me beth. My dad who usually didn't go out of his way to make a big deal of little things, except for what they wanted my name to be, took my birth certificate in to a teacher to get his point across that my name is bethany.

Well, I guess it's Jacquelyn now. You've always been Jackie though...Jackie Eades, the girl who taught me to draw a star. And whose glasses I always secretly wanted to try on. (It's true). I know what you mean though...Dave decided that he would call me "Jen" since he didn't like Jenny. So everyone in Ohio calls me Jen, and everyone else knows me as Jenny, or in rare cases Jenny B. (Also true).

I remember going to your birthday party a couple of years ago. I thought your name was Gwen and then I saw Jacquelyn on the door and I freaked out and didn't give you the card that I'd made because it said Gwen. I was just really confused. I think I asked about it and found out a bit about your story, but four names - come on woman! I hate Jackie too -- I love the name Jacquelyn, but have decided not to name my child that because so many people butcher it like that. It does seem cooler as Jacque, but still. I think Gwen really fits you -- way to go Justin. At least people can't do anything to Dahlia's name, besides shorten it to Dolly -- and I think I can actually see Justin running down to her school birth certificate in hand to clear up the matter.
Kelly (my name is easy -- no one messes it up).

So, are you saying you want us to start calling you Jacquelyn?? It's okay if you do, it might take awhile, but I can try:-)

My-my-my. That sounds like a dilema. I am often called Melanie...and feel too bad to correct people, so they just keep on calling me that and then they feel silly when someone else tells them they're wrong!
It definitely makes me think twice before picking names for my kids (then again, everyone gets Justus mixed up with Justin or Justice...so I guess I didn't do so well there)

I seem to have missed this post!

I totally hear your pain! I'm James on any offical document, so people assume I want to be called Jim. Oh, or Jimmy. Or JT. Yeesh. I don't know why those nicknames make my skin crawl... I'll never call you Jac***! There, I won't even type it!

when you were a little sweety pie, you were jacque and now that you are married and have such beautiful children we can call you jacque, cause this is your father

Hi!! i found your blog! And this amuses me, because of course, my full name is Leena-Jeanette, (and then add the Strole and the Parks, which can be conveniently rearranged to spell, "Jeepers Elton, a Rattlesnake" ...

Add to that, that I don't go by Leena, I go by Jeanette, and I say it Shanette, not Jah-nette, and then I ended up with a whole lotta nicknames, like Shanene, NeNe, Shanettie, Nettie, and Chaka Khan. :)
