good teachings

I am reading this great book that i wanted to share with you all. It is called, Biblical Womanhood in the Home. i went to the bookstore in search of a certain kind of book and i looked for nearly 40 minutes and was disappointed that i couldn't find what i was hoping for. but before i left the store i made one more quick glance at the bookshelf and noticed this book that i hadn't seen before. as i was thumbing through it, i thought, this sounds perfect!
In one of the chapters the author talks about inward beauty vs outward beauty and how our clothing shouldn't contribute to the lust of men. Godly women should dress modestly and remember not to communicate the wrong things with what they wear. it seems that a lot of girls are clueless. even good christian women don't understand the responsibility we have to encourage purity.  There should be no compromise in this area, but many people just go along with the latest fashion and don't bother to notice that what is fashionable is sometimes questionable.
SHe also talks about the characteristics of a foolish woman. just little subtle things that slowly become a part of our everyday conversations are really poisoning those around us, especially men. Just living in this world we are influenced every day and can easily become desensitized to so much.
well there are too many things to list here, but it is really a good book! check it out!

Also, Imago Dei has a series of podcasts out called "1000 conversations" and it is really good too. i usually enjoy Ricks teachings, he is down to earth and humorous. www.imagodeicommunity.com

Thanks for the reference. It certainly seems we(our culture, even our christian culture) have lost a lot of our understanding of God's design for womanhood. The whole modesty issue is a biggy and I totally agree with you on that.
Also, another book you might be interested in reading is called "Created to Be His HelpMeet" The author is not your typical P.C./soft-spoken Christian write, but oh how much truth she brings out! I especially have been challenged by her comments about our attitudes and thoughts, and that whatever they are, bitter, offended, thankful or content...we are always practicing, practicing, practicing to what we will eventually become without even thinking...anyway, if you're interested, certainly check it out!
