crazy hormones!

ok, so disregard my recent comment about my morning sickness not being very bad. Let me restate, it's HORRENDOUS!!! I even feel sick in the middle of the night and i can't go to sleep! What if i'm having twins?! What if it's triplets and that's what's causing me to be sick all the time!?!?! We'd have to build a spare room for my mother to move in. Seriously. I mean, I know the chances are really slim, but it could happen, there could be two or more fetuses floating around in there... but we won't know for two months. Or maybe I just have a bad case of morning sickness. but what if!?
So far I've had some cravings and they don't go away until I get what I want. I've had this hankering for coconut cream pie for like a week  and everytime i talk myself out of it cuz it would be a waste of money to buy one piece at sharis and total gluttony if i got a whole pie(= the funny thing is that i told my mom tonight about my craving and she just made some a few days ago... i was totally going to call her when i was craving it and ask her how she makes it... but then i thought about how much work it would be to try to whip that up and it didnt seem worth it.  so yesterday i bought a maple bar, which was mighty tasty but did not quench my craving! ahhhh, it is making me crazy! i am totally making some tomorrow!!! oh yes and i am always craving pickles... i wonder why a lot of pregnant women crave pickles.... maybe the saltiness?? after all i am a female and females are known for cravings anyhow, but seriously when i am pregnant they are the worst!! does anyone know what i am saying?!!? and could someone please give me some coconut cream pie!!
and as far as smells and such that make me nauseas..... justin's chapstick once again is a no no..... and trying to do the dishes (isnt that convenient) makes me nauseas if there is any food in the sink! even just going into the bathroom makes me want to puke! and oh yes, if justin even mentions eating a turkey burger i gag! so funny!!
ok one more thing... long story short..... a year and a half ago we went to gustavs late at night with some friends. after eating there i started feeling sick..... an hour later i lost it... literally! about 18 times to be exact....  so lets just say i am never ordering pasta alfredo from there again! well for justins birthday this year he wanted to go there. i ordered something different and immediately after i ate it i started feeling sick (i am sure it had nothing to do with the restaurant either time ) a couple hours later... lost my dinner once again..... i dont know if it had to do with the pregnancy this time, but i think i am going to call it quits with german food,(not that pasta alfredo or fish and chips is even german!) auf wiedersehen!

pregnant women do need more salt than usual. I had to conciously get salt into my diet because we are so used to trying to cut out sodium. That's probably where the pickles thing comes in.

I'm right there with ya! Not that I'm craving coconut cream pie, but the other day I wouldn't be satisfied until I had a waffle! Apples are the thing now. Anything and everything apple flavored. Thankfull, I'm not having any food aversions any more, those were the worst! I hope you feel better soon!!!

Hey, Nikki Rollins gave ginger capsules to my very morning sick Teacher's Aide who was constantly missing work. It did the trick. It totally eliminated her morning sickness. Go to a health food store and TRY IT! I hate nausea and throwing up! YUK YUK!

Top 10 Is It Twins? 10 Signs That You're Having Twins/Multiples
Is it twins? Pregnant mothers often suspect that they are carrying more than one baby. Here are some of the most common signs of a twin or multiple pregnancy. Could you be having more than one? Check your symptoms against this list.
1) Ultrasound Confirmation
Seeing is believing... the only way to indisputably confirm a twin or multiple pregnancy is to see it -- via ultrasound. An ultrasound image can indicate without a doubt if there is more than one fetus. Ultimately, no matter what other signs or symptoms you have, the only way you'll know for sure is to have an ultrasound.
2) Doppler Heartbeat Count
Using harmless sound waves, a Doppler system amplifies fetal heart sounds, usually distinguishable late in the first trimester. An experienced physician or midwife can detect more than one heartbeat, indicating a multiple pregnancy. However, the sounds can be misleading; what appears to be a second heartbeat may actually be background noise or the mother's own heartbeat.
3) Elevated HcG Levels
For various reasons, doctors may monitor HcG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels. HcG is a hormone detectable in pregnant women's blood or urine about 10 days post-conception; it increases at a rapid rate, peaking about 10 weeks into the pregnancy. Twins may produce an elevated level of HcG. However, the standard HcG level for twins also falls within the normal range for singletons.
4) Abnormal AFP Test Results
AFP (Alphafetoprotein) screening is a blood test performed on pregnant mothers during the second trimester. Also known as maternal serum screening or triple marker screen, it is used to identify increased risks of certain birth defects. A twin pregnancy can produce an usually high -- or "positive -- result.
5) Measuring Large for Gestational Age
Throughout the pregnancy, the doctor or midwife may measure the height of the uterine fundus (from the top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus) as a way of indicating gestational age. A twin or multiple pregnancy may causes the mother's uterus to expand beyond the range of a single pregnancy. However, other factors may also increase the measurements.
6) Weight Gain
Just as a multiple pregnancy may cause a mother to measure large, it may also result in an increased weight gain. How much weight a woman gains can vary depending on her height, body type and how much she weighed pre-pregnancy. Increased or rapid weight gain more than likely reflects eating choices rather than twins; generally, mothers of twins only gain about 10 lbs. more than singleton mothers.
7) Excessive Morning Sickness
About 50% of pregnant women experience some amount of vomiting or nausea associated with their pregnancy. Moms of multiples certainly aren't exempt, but neither are they doomed to a double dose. Only about 15% of respondents in a poll on this site reported enhanced morning sickness symptoms as an indicator of their multiple pregnancies. Experiences vary widely -- some do, some don't.
8) Early/Frequent Fetal Movement
Feeling a baby -- or babies -- move inside the womb is one of the most thrilling aspects of pregnancy. Although many moms of multiples do experience more frequent or earlier fetal movement, there is considerable disagreement among medical professionals on the subject. For some women, recognizable feelings of movement occur earlier in subsequent pregnancies, whether there is one baby or more.
9) Extreme Fatigue
This is the most commonly reported complaint during pregnancy with multiples. Sleepiness, lethargy and exhaustion during the first trimester can be enhanced because the body is working overtime to nurture more than one baby. In some cases, the fatigue can be attributed to other factors (work, stress, poor nutrition, having other children), but it can also be an indication of multiples.
10) History/Hunches
While the other items in this list refer to some kind of visible evidence -- exaggerated symptoms, abnormal test results, etc. -- we can't disregard the power of a mother's intuition. A family history of multiples, or a powerful hunch can be convincing indicators. Follow up with your doctor about these feelings.
